I get set down on the water and I get pulled away by the current. Other canoes are by me like we are in a race. I go past birds in trees. It sounds like they are laughing at us. We go from the Sheyenne River to the Red River. The current gets faster and we see the scenery briefly. As the sun goes down we slow down and soon we are floating along. Days go by and not much happens. The river has many twists and turns. Days turn into months and soon it is winter. I am in Lake Winnipeg. The lake freezes and I stop moving. Snow falls on me and I look like a frozen statue. Winter passes and the lake thaws. I continue on my way on the Nelson River. Finally I get to Hudson Bay in the spring.
