Canoe #26RD1449
It was a dreary bleak day in May when Jasper the Canoe was launched into the Wild Rice River like a rocket. Jasper sped down the river the current pushing him fiercely. Though the day was bleak Jasper was determined to go far for he was surely going to make it to the sea. As Jasper rolled down the river observing the lush green trees and the muddy river banks he couldnt help but feel like he was being watched. Jaspers suspicions were later confirmed when a pair of glassy eyes looked at him from under the water Just then a sleek silver fish jumped out of the river behind him the splash sending him speeding forward into the vast Minnesotan wilderness. Jasper traveled for many days and nights. Out of the Wild Rice Watershed and into the bustling towns of Grand Forks and Winnipeg. One night as Jasper was gliding along the shore of Lake Winnipeg a ferocious storm came out of the blue. Thunder roared and lightning flashed through the air. Waves seven feet tall barreled over Jasper causing him to flip and turn in every direction possible until the waves threw him through the air and onto the rocky shore. Jasper sat waiting wedged between two rocks for days. Until a young man in his midtwenties wearing khaki pants and a tshirt picked Jasper up and brought him to his truck. The man saw the message on the canoe and after a quick paint touch up Jasper was back to sailing along the quiet shores of Lake Winnipeg. As Jasper made his way North toward Hudson Bay he sailed with ice caps and saw woodland caribou and polar bears and their cubs near Churchill Manitoba. As he made his way into the Hudson Bay it had been almost four years since he was launched into that little river behind the casino but he had made it to the Hudson Bay past Greenland and got a ride on a ship with a young boy whose family caught Jasper and were taking him home to France with them. Jasper had completed his journey and he had bigger and better plans and there was no stopping him now.
