Canoe #26RD0454

My journey to the Atlantic Ocean. My goal was to get to at least Hudson Bay. And here I was Sandhill River. Beautiful spring flowers everywhere. Me flowing with the rushing current. This was just the very beginning of my dream. The current was already rushing me to the Red River like it didnt want me here. I didnt notice the advancing dark clouds above. BOOM Thunder roared from nowhere a lightning strike almost blinded me. This raging murderous storm flew me past Beltrami all the way into Climax. Somehow I wasnt snapped in half. Now it was much calmer with trees and dandelions bursting up. I passed a house with kids playing with water guns and one pointed at me. But I was already long gone. Then the current ushered me towards the Red River. Slowly the leaves around me turned dark and light autumn shades. I was in Grand Forks. Everything was beautiful and leaves were falling like dramatic movie stars. The current brought me along a far distance in a slow steady time. After that storm everything was beautiful. Then a ship with a net catching fish caught me accidentally. I struggled and wrangled and squirmed until I burst out. And I was in Canada. Canadians were as friendly as I thought they would be. A kid saw me and took me in for the winter. I listened to his stories of the scary forest behind his house. He set me back on my journey when everything was melting. I had a great time as the unfrozen water pushed me towards Winnipeg. Spring. All the pretty flowers bloomed as I set upon my voyage across all of Winnipeg and so on to Lake Winnipeg. I was getting closer. Suddenly a whirlpool blocked my way like a giant hall monitor. It brought me down its swirling waves swishing me left and right multiple times until I escaped its deadly grasp. But everything was overly calm. Too calm. Like the calm before a storm. Then heavy fast rain swept me to Lake Winnipeg. And it still followed until I was halfway to Nelson River. Thats when it decided it had enough fun. Three days later the blazing sun felt like hellfire on my wooden skin. Though there was always rain to wash out the burn. Those rain storms were what brought me past beautiful dandelions and oak or birch trees to Nelson River. I was almost there Just a few more miles. I was the closest Id be to Hudson Bay. Just a quarter mile and Id be there. But I didnt know it wouldnt be this easy to get to the Atlantic Ocean. It was nice to see fishermen in the distance. Seagulls flew overhead like protecting me from any danger. And then here I was Hudson Bay. It was time to venture alone. Freezing water almost caught me in the middle of Hudson Bay. But I pushed on persevering. I didnt voyage all the way here just to slide off to land. This was MY game now. I slid until my boat felt frostbitten. But I could see it the end. I slid until I realized this was at least half a mile. The rushing waters drew back to life. Spring had saved me. The ice surrendered to the sun and now I was rushed forward. These tides had changed my story completely. I could feel it like I was about to pass into the Atlantic. And then I did it.
