Canoe 26RD1371
My name is The Lorax. I am here for the trees stay away from them or I'll break your knees.I am a canoe with many hopes and dreams of reaching Hudson Bay and hopefully catching a rainbow trout. I will be launched from Oak Grove Middle School in 2026 and will arrive in 2031. As I am telling my story to other canoes my handler will rudely pick me up and will plop me on the side of the Red River. I will watch as more and more canoes start to circle me and then our handlers let their canoes go. I will start to glide down the Red River so fast and straight till I couldn't see any other canoes they all disappeared behind me. I sit there like a bump on the log waiting for something fun to happen.I then pass Moorhead along my journey. I flip myself over but i realized i cant hold my breath under water so i flip back up. Some fish got on top of my canoe when I flipped such as pike and walleye.I spotted lots of animals as I was going up the red river.I got kinda hangry as I passed two fat turkeys in an open corn field. I saw a sign by the stream saying Marshall County. I hit a rock really hard which probably scraped off my beautiful marker drawings.I heard someone shouting so I looked back and saw another canoe speeding right at me.MOVE OUT OF THE WAYThey said I try to move out of the way but he hits me so hard I fling up in the air. As I'm in the air I feel the feathers of a bird touch me.Its a hawkThe hawk's wing was stuck on my stupid wooden canoe. I tried to yell for help but that was no use because the canoe that crashed into me was stuck in a maple tree. At this point I just give up until an old woman starts to run at me she gets closer and closer till I realize she accidentally tripped and fell in the river.HELP SOMEONE HELP MEI still couldn't do anything but just stare at the moaning woman. She eventually realized she was on a shallow part and the river was only 3 feet deep. She starts to slowly walk up to mebut she trips and falls in the river again. Then i see another person running to the river it looks like an old man.Margaret I'm coming for you He also then tripped and fell into the red river. Eventually the hawks wing let loose of my ridged canoe and flew away. I finally continued my journeyI daydreamed for about 2 hours till sunset. I saw some more buildings and realized I was right by East Grand Forks. Along the river bankI saw a little nest with baby birds in it.I wondered what kind of birds they were I was about to come closer until the current pulled me away. I'm pretty sure they were baby eagles. The river kept pulling me through streams and some baby waterfalls which almost made me throw up. After that many days and nights passed. I finally crossed Emerson City after a while. I woke up and was surprised I was still going up the Red River.I have been on the river for about 16 hours I accidentally slept in a bit. I turned north all of the sudden into a separate stream it looked like my canoe was leading me somewhere.I saw more buildings which had pigeons on top of them. It looked like an abandoned city. I realized I crossed the USA border while i was in my sleep. The stream finally meets the Red River again and I continue north.I spot another open field but it looks like it's filled with soybeans and veggies instead.I see some gorgeous elm trees dangling its stems on the red river making an opening for me to glide through. Before the stems went away i plucked a little one off with my hand. After that I saw a cute little deer sleeping right by their mother. Then as expected I finally saw what i was waiting for.Rainbow trout started jumping in and out of the red riverI quickly grabbed some meat and a fishing line that was in my bag. I tied the line on the twig and tied the meat on the end of the line but my meat kept slipping off. I looked for something sharp and realized I had earrings on for some reasonI yanked one out of my ear and tied the earring onto the line.I stabbed the meat with the back of the earring and cast it away. After about 5 seconds I felt a little nibble then another then a bite except the bite wasn't from a rainbow trout it was from aOH NO I slowly felt my line get tight then it stopped. I thought it let go so I tugged a bit but it seemed like it was snagged in some grass. My line started to move again and I suddenly was getting thrusted forward. The beast wasn't a trout it was a humongous crocodile. I gasped scared as ever Maybe I will never reach Hudson Bay. I can't believe my line hasn't snapped yet. I think I accidentally packed a 1000 pound fishing line. If my line hasn't broken yet that means my twig will snap Instead of my twig snapping I felt a deep pain in my body. I snapped. The pulling stoppedbut my ache in my canoe didn't stop.I finally bent my head back and realized half of me was gone. How was I going to make it to st.louis with a half torn canoebehind me i saw something in the river not laying there but was swimming toward me. IT WAS THE OLD WOMAN I have no idea why she swam across the USA border but I guess that's what she did.Let me help you sir. I'm not a sirI wish I could say that but I can't talk to people. She pulled out some glue she had in her pocket and grabbed the other half of my canoe. They put glue all over me then went to find the other half.Found it.she said but it seemed like her voice didn't seem sure. I flipped myself over again surprised to see her climbing an oak tree. She got the other half of me and surprisingly jumped down and landed perfect. She slapped the other half of my canoe on me so hard some glue dropped off me and into the water. I felt like I was being watched again not by the old lady but something else. I heard growling and saw the old woman's face go white. She immediately shoved me in the direction of the river and started to run out of the river as fast as she could. It was a horrible scene. What happened made me feel like I wouldn't make it either. I try to look for something I can paddle with but there's nothing. My twig I had forgotten all about that horrible stick it was the reason why I was in this situation. So I grabbed it and put one side in the water. I started to paddle for a long long time. I paddled and paddled through 2 nights and 2 days. I went east and west south and north and found myself in Cass County. I continued across it horrified the crocodile was still behind me. I remembered something but I couldn't remember what it was. I looked in my bag and found what I brought It was a map I found where I was on the map and needed to go straight for about 2 miles to reach Winnipeg. After about 1 mile I heard a rustle in the trees I thought I was doomed again when a giant moose came out. Then I was sad I felt sad for thinking that the moose was going to harm me. She had 2 baby mooses right by her they were all very skinny. She just came out here to get water and look for food. I looked in my bag and found some raw meat. I tossed it to her and she let her kids eat first then her. I watched as she slowly walked awaywincing in pain. I needed to get to Winnipeg so I continued. After about another mile I finally reached Winnipeg I was relieved because this meant my destination was close. I heard a loud booming noise in the forest by me it was a wood pecker. I also came across a beaver carving a tree. I kinda want to watch but I need to continue my journey to Hudson Bay. Night came but I couldn't sleep. I was so excited Lake Winnipeg was coming up it would be my first time not being in a river. I eventually did fall asleep and when I woke up I immediately noticed the water was clearer. I looked at my map again and realized I was in the Nelson River. I must have turned south when I was asleep. Up ahead I couldn't see anything but I knew I was close. Hours passed even days passed but I finally was in the mouth of Lake Winnipeg I saw so many kinds of fish like small mouth basscarp and even salmon. The water was so much clearer so I could see everything under me. I went across Lake Winnipeg back onto Nelson River which took about 4 hours. The cycle continued days and nights passed I even slept through the days because I was so exhausted. I noticed up ahead it looked like there was a huge body of water I wondered if that was Hudson Bay. I rustled in my bag again but there was no map. I have no idea where that went. That didn't matter anyway we were so close I could feel it. As I came closer I realized there was a bigger body of water and there was also a tiny water fall in front of me. I nervously shifted down the waterfall then dropped right as I dropped I touched water again. The current got so fast all of the sudden and I couldn't control myself. The water went left then right which wacked me side to side. Water kept spraying into my eyes so I closed them. I pictured myself reaching Hudson Bay and for some reason I pictured that old lady there but I knew that wasn't possible anyway. I then felt a strange shift the current stopped and I felt like I wasn't in a straight line of water anymore. I opened my eyes and I reached Hudson Bay
