Dream My canoe’s name is Tinkles. I have many hopes for my canoe after its launch in Fargo. I hope it will enjoy a smooth and effortless ride to Hudson Bay. Hopefully someone will find my canoe along the way! One day a young craftsman decided to make a canoe out of wood. He tossed it to the Red River from his home in Fargo with a note saying, “ If you have found Tinkles (my canoe) please put it back in the Red River on its trail to Hudson Bay. Thank you very much!”. Tinkles now floating through Clay County on the Red was embarking on a remarkable journey. She watched the sugar beets pass by her as the cool muddy water trickled over her. Later, she saw young children running around with ice cream cones and the rappers said Moorhead Dairy Queen. This meant she must have been near Moorhead, MN. Days later, Tinkles saw Big Northern Pikes swimming near the cottonwood filled banks of the Mighty Red. Later, passing Shelley, MN, Tinkles saw loons swimming through the shallow waters. Near the riverside she could see the beautiful and delicate chokecherry trees. Just hours later when the sun began to set, she saw many animals glowing in the pink sky. In the water she saw turtles, cod, and salmon. On the land she saw ducks, and one great wise owl perched in a tree. One week later, Tinkles was in Kittson County and she heard the rushing of rapids. She immediately knew she was in for it. But she made it through, the rapids were just like a crazy roller coaster. She continued to float over the Canadian border. Two weeks later, Tinkles was in Lake Winnipeg. She saw the cutest river otters flipping through the waves. She also saw many fish, including Whitefish, Perch, Northern Pike, Burbot, and Suckers. Tinkles then continued through the rivers of mid Canada. Four weeks later she saw the crystal clear waters of Hudson Bay. She had made it. The waters were so clear and blue. On the bottom there were sea urchins. Above the water there were swans swimming and dolphins leaping through the air. Tinkles had never felt more satisfied with herself.
