Siri’s Voyage - Siri is in the Red Lake River in Crookston, Minnesota. It’s summer. Siri’s dream is to get to Hudson Bay. Siri starts floating rapidly to Fisher and on her way she sees a deer drinking water out of the Red Lake River. Then Siri gets stuck in mud when suddenly a deer runs by. Swoosh, Siri is back in the water, Siri rapidly floats in the river when bang, she runs into a fallen tree. The wind starts to blow and gets Siri’s unstuck from the tree. She’s free floating again.
Siri is now in Fisher. Weeks past with cold water, storms and animals making sounds. Siri sees coyotes hunting for food along the bank of the Red Lake River.
Then Siri is in East Grand Forks, it’s dark, and water is splashing against her. Siri hears dogs barking, sirens, owls and the river flowing. Siri smells something weird and stinky. It’s the American Crystal Beet Plant and skunks. The sun is now rising and Siri sees geese and chirping birds flying over and rabbits hopping along the river bank.
Siri is now in Grand Forks, where the Red Lake River merges into the Red River. After weeks past, with thunderstorms and seeing animals hunting for food and drinking out of the Red River, Siri reaches the United States/Canadian Border.
At the United States/Canadian Border Siri saw a big rock, but luckily Siri floated past the rock. Floating on her way to Lake Winnipeg Siri smelled smoke and she looked up and saw trees along the river bank on fire. She felt very scared as she floated past the fire.
There it was Lake Winnipeg, Siri saw other canoes. She was scared but luckily they past Siri. Then the sun went down and Siri heard BOOM!!! BOOM!!! It was a thunder and lightning storm. The storm was shaking Siri and the waves got big, but she remembered, never give up, so Siri kept going. After the storm it was sunrise and Siri entered the Nelson River.
Hours past and it was dark again, but Siri kept going. The moon gave her a good amount of light. The next morning Siri saw a polar bear so Siri knew she was in the Hudson Bay. Siri tried to make it to the Atlantic Ocean but Siri got stuck on ice, so Siri knew she would take a couple of years to get to the Atlantic Ocean, but knew she would never give up. |
